(Belton) West Glacier, MT - At the western entrance to Glacier National Park and served by Amtrak's "Empire Builder". Across the highway and right of center, you can find the Belton Chalet, which was opened by the Great Northern Railway in 1910, the same year as the Park. Winner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Award 2000, the Chalet is a terrific place to stay and watch the trains roll by.

Essex, MT - Halfway between East and West Glacier, Essex is a BNSF helper station and home of the Izaak Walton Inn, built in 1939 for Great Northern train crews. The Izaak Walton is now a railfan haven. Served by Amtrak's "Empire Builder".

Whitefish, MT - Former Great Northern (now BNSF) turntable and roundhouse. Yard to the east.

Hinkle Yard, OR The Hinkle locomotive service and repair facility is strategically located
on Union Pacific Railroad's busy Pacific Northwest corridor. Construction of
the $32 million facility began in October 1996 and was completed in October
