Vintage Billboards #1 - (File size is 338kb)

This file includes three billboards with vintage advertising (suitable for Post WW-2 USA routes). The billboards are two-sided with different advertisements on each side. The textures are courtesy of "Randy's Billboards of the Past" website and are used with permission. You can check out Randy's site at: "Randy's Billboards of the Past" The download includes night and snow textures plus a template image for anyone who wants to create additional textures. See readme.txt in zip file for installation instructions.

Flat People #2 - (File size is 1235kb)

This is a new collection of "2d" people. Each figure is transparently mapped onto 4 single-sided 2 meter high polygons. The polygons are perpendicular to each other to help the figure appear symmetrical from most angles. This also makes them easier to place in the Route Editor. The textures are compressed and are more detailed than my first set of flat people.

In addition to the individual figures, there is one "group object" and a special figure that has been missing from Marias Pass.

All of the characters were computer generated using Poser 4 from Curious Labs. See readme.txt (inside the zip file) for installation instructions.

Steam Rotary Snowplow - (File size is 631kb)

This Steam Rotary Snowplow is an update of Jake Kulik's Rotary Snowplow. Chuck Hebert modified the eng file from the 2-6-6-2 locomotive by John Davis to create a blowing snow effect from the steam. In order to run this steam snowplow, you will also need to have Train Artisan's Empire State Express (ESE 2.0)

Rotary Snowplow (with animated blades) - (File size is 552kb)

Jake Kulik has given us permission to make his rotary (With animated blades!) snowplow available here. Jake used Train Sim Modeler Design Studio by Abacus to create this model. This is a Work-in-progress, but with the new snow on Marias Pass (see below), we didn't want to wait.

Heavy Snow - (File size is 3kb)

The snow textures for Marias Pass depict a rather light snowfall for the Montana Rockies. This batch file will copy the US2TarGnd.ace file over the other snow textures to create a winter wonderland!

UPDATED! Dec 29, 2001 Now Includes batch files to modify all default MSTS routes with heavy snow!

City Bank - (File size is 317kb)

A modern style bank typical of cities.

Click here to download this city-style bank.

8 Station Signs - (File size is 251kb)

This is a collection of 8 station signs. These signs can be placed in front the signs that are embedded into existing stations so you can re-use stations without having a custom skin for each one. Each sign is mapped onto a single-sided 3 meter wide polygon. All 8 signs use the same .ace file - each figure is 32 pixels high and 256 pixels wide. If you have experience with a imaging program like Paint Shop Pro or Photshop, you can edit the stationsign2m.bmp file and replace the images with your own. I did not put lettering on the textured signs.

Click here to download these 8 station signs.

'57 Chevy - (File size is 167kb)

As more vintage railroad equipment becomes available for MSTS, there is a growing need for scenery items to match earlier eras. So, here is a classic, low-polygon 1957 Chevrolet convertible.

Instructions for adding this vehicle to a route's "Car Spawner" are included in the .zip file, so you can let the car cruise. There's no driver, but what the heck, the locomotives don't have engineers either! I have also included the texture for anyone who wants to customize their paint scheme.

HOW DO I ADD THESE FLAT PEOPLE TO MY ROUTE?

Flat People #1 - (File size is 505kb) This is a collection of 32 "2d" people. Each figure is transparently mapped onto single-sided 2 meter high polygons. For best results, do not place the figures near the tracks - otherwise the "Flatness" of the figure will be too obvious. Keep in mind that only one side of the polygons are visible so make sure that they are facing so that they can be seen. All 32 figures use the same .ace file - each figure is 128 pixels high and 64 pixels wide.

If you have experience with a imaging program like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop, you can edit the flatpeople.tga file and replace the images with your own. Keep in mind that you will need to edit the Alpha channel if you make any changes. All of the characters were computer generated using Poser 4 from Curious Labs. See readme.txt for installation instructions (included in the .zip file download).

HOW DO I ADD THIS MODEL TO MY ROUTE?

Click here to see a side-by-side comparison of the 1973 photo and this model.

Southern Railway Depot - Huntsville, Alabama (file size is 193kb)

This historic station was built by the Memphis and Charleston Railroad in 1860. When Union troops captured Huntsville in 1862, it was used as a temporary prison. The station has been restored as part of a transportation museum. It is depicted here based on a few photographs that I took around 1973, before restoration began. I used 3D Canvas to create the model and export to MSTS format. The 1973 photographs were manipulated in Canoma and Paint Shop Pro 7 for the texture. A comparison between the model and one of the original photographs can be found on the Screenshots page.

Update - now with compressed .s and .ace files Night and snow textures included.
