And now, we proudly present the artists in our visitors' gallery and invite you to discover Christopher Jenkins, S.R. Krueger, Joe Townend, Mark Karvon, Wayne Pearson, Art by Wayne, Don Stewart , Gary Giacomelli , Craig Campbell, Dave Mittner, Bill Gardoski, Stan Goudey, Tex Wilson, Ron Suchiu, Tom Rock, Erik Sansom's DAILY Railroad "Toy Trunk Railroad" Comics, Dennis James Gergel, Jr., Steve Andersonk, John Hugh Coker

Christopher Jenkins

Christopher Jenkins is an American artist who specializes in painting transportation machines. He paints exclusively in oil. Most of his railroad paintings are designed to highlight the drama and power of moving trains. His technique involves beginning with a monochrome under-painting of the locomotive, and building up layers of color and detail over the course of many painting sessions. His gallery can be found at trainsshipsplanes.com

Steve Krueger

Steve Krueger recently retired from the BNSF Railway and has started painting full time. His artwork can be found at Train Artist - S.R. Krueger

Joe Townend

Joe Townend is a railway artist living in the United Kingdom. He paints mostly British railways, but has started taking an interest in American railways and just painted a T-1 class locomotive. He is been a professional pub sign artist with more than 25 years experience, and also does wildlife paintings. Joe Townend regularly takes commissions for most subjects, including wildlife, railways and other forms of transport. He can paint from photographs and considers any subject.

Townend's well-done website at JoeTownend.com is an interesting one, with a lovely gallery of his detailed oil paintings of the steam era, especially of the nostalgic scenes of his native Yorkshire. As professional pub signs are uncommon in the United States, don't miss seeing the gallery of pub signs on his site, which feature trains, ships and a horse.

Mark Karvon

Mark Karvon is a pencil fine artist of trains, ships, antique autos, and, soon to be added, aviation. Karvon's original railroad drawings are collected and displayed in the Illinois Railway Museum, and in many public spaces and private collections. His adventures in drawing began in a Chicago high school with architectural design and mechanical drawing classes. Later, after studying aeronautical engineering in college, Karvon developed and refined his art skills under the wing of his good friend Charles Vickery, who was himself a world-class marine artist, famous for his paintings of clipper ships. Vickery taught Karvon the finer points of pencil drawing, and Karvon expanded his skills into paint, and honed his craft of drawing, even venturing into portraits. After his friend Vickery passed away, Karvon and his wife and children moved to North Carolina. Karvon continued to create commissioned illustrations as well as numerous works for private collectors.

Karvon's website is an interesting one, as he has Flash images of bare bones pencil perspective drawings, which merge into finished fine art pencil drawings with shading and great detail. This is a great way to show how a drawing progresses from a beginning stage perspective drawing into a fully developed fine artwork.

The artist offers affordable prints of trains at MarkKarvon.com, as limited edition prints printed on heavy weight, acid free paper and also as giclee prints, which are printed on Somerset Velvet paper with Epson Ultrachrome professional archival inks.

Karvon's growth into a talented pencil fine artist reminds us that friends who share their knowledge are often very inspirational in our life paths -- Perhaps a little bit of Charles Vickery lives on in the precise pencil strokes of Mark Karvon.

Art By Wayne

Wayne is an acrylic paint artist of trains, ships, and aviation. Growing up in Southern California, in a Navy family, afforded him many opportunities to develop a lifetime interest in trains, ships, and planes, including trainwatching with his grandfather, as the Southern Pacific Steam ended its glory days in the 1950s. Wayne's childhood interest grew into a love of computers and electronics -- he enjoyed a career on Pacific fleet ships. Now living in Nevada with his wife, Wayne has his own fulltime art studio, and does commissioned works, enjoys model railroading and travel.

Wayne's artworks are currently displayed at Santa Ynez Valley (California) Historical Museum and the Brewery Art Gallery in Carson City, Nevada. His work has appeared in Vintage Rails, Raifan Railroad, World War II Magazine, and more. Past exhibits include the Coos Bay Art Museum's Annual Maritime Art Show.

The artist offers affordable prints of trains at ArtbyWayne.com, on acid free archival satin photo paper, and are printed with archival inks. Commissioned works are also available.

Wayne's early memory of being a five year old, awestruck by the box art on a 1954 Revell USS New Jersey plastic model inspired him to his own artistic endeavours. How wonderful it is to remember the very first moment when something marvelous struck us as a child and set us on a lifelong path from inspiration to creation. Don't miss the eight gallery pages of Wayne's rail art, beginning at ArtbyWayne.com. At the bottom of each gallery page is a link that says "Next Page" -- Prepare yourself for a visual treat of railroad artwork in brilliant color and detail. If you have time, also check out his aviation art, naval art, and maritime art, on the same site ArtbyWayne.com.

Wayne's Realistic Products

Wayne Pearson of Wayne's Realistic Products is primarily a relief artist. He works in 2D, 2.5 D, and 3D. His primary railroading interests include sculpting populated narrow gauge short line pieces. He grew up steeped in HO model railroading, with his grandfather teaching him how to make things from scratch, including molding and casting. From his HO scale hobby, Wayne developed into a sculptor who produces a product line from his relief paintings. The prints that he sells are based on his 3D works.

One of the most interesting talents that Wayne Pearson has is that he is an incredible scratchbuilder. From an oil-fired 16 pound crucible foundry for casting aluminum, to a spincaster and a vulcanizer for casting pewter and zamac, to even scratchbuilding his own tabletop piston-type injection molder to explore plastic kit model manufacturing, and many more impressive machine builds, Wayne eventually scratchbuilt a propane-fired compression molder to further explore thermoplastic kit model manufacturing. He has gravity-casted in pewter, polyester, epoxy, rigid urethanes, plaster, and cement, and is the author of a book on casting and mold making. His business of casting decorative railroad-theme light switch cover plates in polyester is just one artistic area of Wayne's Realistic Products.

Wayne's Realistic Products offers original relief paintings as well as affordable prints of trains, based on his relief artwork at WaynesRealisticProducts.com. Even the wooden frames of the prints are handmade. Don't miss the decorative Key Racks.

Check out his train art and his amazing machine making skills at WaynesRealisticProducts.com.

Don Stewart

Artist, poet and writer, Don Stewart, is a man of many talents. He is the creative consultant at his company, DS Art. His crisp composite drawings, done with ballpoint, may take a month to complete. His drawings are witty, punny, and a visual feast of shapes and in-jokes. The longer you look at one of Don's drawings, the more you see. His style of composite drawings are full of whimsy and magical innuendoes. A steam locomotive drawing is compiled of many objects including a clock face, a whiskey jug, a child's wagon, a vintage bicycle, a top hat, a box camera, a postage stamp, and Uncle Sam as the engineer. A master of complex composition, his talent is not to be missed.

Don Stewart's must see prints and reproductions can be viewed and ordered at his official web site, http://www.dsart.com/Gallery/train.htm (Click on a link on the left hand side of his train image page to view more composite drawings in his art gallery.)

Steve J Anderson

Steve Anderson at the drawing boardWe announce the return of Steve Anderson, who was our very first featured artist when we began this section of the site that we call the visitors' gallery. Steve is back after being quite ill, and we are thrilled that he is again at the drawing board, creating wonderful original pencil drawings and prints that are a visual treat for railfans. His pencil art has been featured in many national art magazines and newspapers. Welcome back, Steve! We wish you good health and happiness as you return to creating great train art.

Steve Anderson's print series, entitled "American Trains," can be viewed and ordered at his official web site, http://www.stevejanderson.com/thegallery.html

Anderson's quest for nostalgia is fulfilled by producing railroad art that highlights vintage steam locomotives, surrounded by aesthetically correct landscapes. Much time is needed to research and create an image that places emphasis on the incredible detail of every mechanical part. These machines were certainly the crowning achievement for industrial strength of the day. Most importantly, the railroads connected our States, which made the expansion to the West possible. Steve's compositions are rich in historical details portrayed in black and white, or color, even sepia/natural.

Steve Anderson is a member of the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers, and all of his prints come with a certificate of authenticity. His prints are high quality lithography, and are affordably priced. The prints are also offered as professionally framed in historic barn wood and are ready to hang. Remarques are available.

Steve Anderson also sells gift cards (blank inside) of his artwork for just $7.50 for an assortment of 10 cards, with matching linen envelopes. Cards are an easy and inexpensive way to get acquainted with Anderson's work, if you like his train art, but aren't yet ready to order a print.
